We finally got around to going to The Devil’s Staircase. Maybe next time we’ll actually make it there.
On our second journey to these falls, we finally succeeded, thanks only to “Deet-Free Buzz Away Extreme” natural insect repellent.

I went camping and did a little fishing up the North Umpqua.
We decided to take a trek up the South Umpqua River to Campbell Falls.
I was searching around on topo maps and found a twin set of tall, unnamed waterfalls and difficult to get to. Possibly due to my insolence for even attempting this, Mother Nature drew first blood.
A place that is quickly becoming one of my favorites is along the East Fork of the Coquille.
We took a hike up the first two miles of the Swiftwater segment of the North Umpqua Trail today.
